Appointed Life Member on the 20 July 1964.
Don Smith was not a person to sit and keep a seat warm whilst enjoying the privileges of position, far be it. Although Don was not on the Committee as long as some others, he achieved in his brief time, more than many others.
Don came onto the Golf Committee in 1960 and served until 1964. A short time to serve perhaps and become a Life Member as well, but Don devoted to the Club his time whilst the grass greens were being established. It was Don who became the man who worked so tirelessly for the Club and not doing enough on his own farm. Don worked seven days a week on the course, only a short distance from his farm.
When Don was made a Life Member in 1964, the Club recognised his service be presenting him with a new golf bag.
