Appointed Life Member on the 10 November 1998.
Richard (Ritchie) J. Day joined the Benalla Golf Club in April 1975 from the Golden Vale Golf Club.
Ritchie was elected to the Committee on 17 November 1976 and was Deputy Captain in the years 1979 through 1982. Later in November 1983 through 1985, he was Captain.
Elected as Junior Vice President for 1987 through 1989. Senior Vice President from 1990 through 1992.
Being elected President for two years, 1993 through 1994.
Whilst in office, he was also Club delegate to the N.E.D.G.A. for a period of eight years.
A hobby being woodwork, Ritchie included the modification to the wooden bases to many trophies, also to the creation of the columns to the Club Bar from the timber of the old tank stand to the original clubhouse. Also, he created the original guide signs to each golf hole for the course. Ritchie also helped on many working bees around the course where his chain saw engaged in many operations.
