Appointed Life Member on the 30 November 2024.
Marion Cowan joined the Benalla Golf Club in 1956 and during the next 69 years she consistently displayed a remarkable commitment to the Club and its members.
During this period, Marion has consistently supported and held position within the Ladies Golf administration including, Vice President, Captain, Lady Handicapper, Ladies Match Committee and Ladies General Committee.
However, it is her support and positive approach to juniors and new members that Marion has quietly been a shining light over many years.
Marion’s involvement continued with her husband, Vaughan, out on the driving range on Sunday mornings. Over many years she welcomed and encouraged numerous juniors and adults to begin and refine their golf skills.
Together, Marion and Vaughan’s wonderful community commitment continued until 2021 and is acknowledged by many as the reason why a significant number of members joined and established a connection with our club.
Marion’s enduring love of the Benalla Golf Club and what is has provided for our community, her longevity of playing, volunteering, mentoring, and completing administered tasks are qualities that are to be admired, celebrated and recognised.
