Appointed Life Member on the 22 October 2022.
Norm joined the Club as a member in 1988.
He was elected to the General Committee for 2000.
Notably, Norm was Club Secretary from 2001 through 2011. During which time the ‘Long Putt’ a quarterly newsletter was developed and is the forerunner to today’s publication.
More recently he took on the Presidents role from 2017 through 2020. During his time as President, he had more than his fair share of issues to deal with, from water supply issues during a prolonged drought, to the start of the Covid Pandemic, while continuing to capitalize on the financial position. He left the President’s position with the club in the very healthy financial position it enjoys today.
A major development during his Presidency was the rebuilding of all the bunkers on the course by club members and the introduction of a sustainability philosophy within the Club.
While Norm finished up on the committee at the end of 2020, he is still very active as a volunteer around the club in many areas. He is a regular at Dad’s Army on Monday mornings and at all other course working bees. He continues to update and maintain the Club Website week in and week out. He is also a weekly volunteer picking up balls on the driving range.
Norms contribution as a committee member, executive member and longtime volunteer has been outstanding and Benalla Golf Club has and will continue to benefit from his contribution.
